Although our season is starting a bit later than we planned, we still expect an exceptional 2020.  However, we have not been idle while we await our opening, we have used this time to enhance and strengthen our ability to make Mission Point Resort a safe and healthy environment for our employees, guests, and other visitors.  Things may look a bit different this year as we have implemented a number of new practices as a result of COVID 19 but we are still the same exceptional place to work or visit.  We look forward to having you join us for the 2020 season.

THIS IS A FULL-TIME, SEASONAL POSITION FOR THE SUMMER 2020 SEASON THROUGH THE END OF OCTOBER

Mission Point Resort, Mackinac Islands’ only full service, casual resort is currently seeking candidates to fill the position of Line Cook. This full time/seasonal position is located on Mackinac Island and offers competitive pay, housing, other perks. The ideal applicant will possess an upbeat attitude and enjoy working in a multi-cultural environment.

POSITION SUMMARY

As a line cook your primary responsibility is to work with the kitchen staff in the daily production, preparation and presentation of all food for the hotel’s restaurants in a safe and sanitary work environment. Ensure all food is served according to specification set by Lead Cook and Sous Chefs

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school education or equivalent experience preferred
  • One or more years of experience in a restaurant kitchen or related field preferred
  • Be an enthusiastic, helpful and positive member of the team
  • Be professional, responsible and mature
  • Report to work on time in a clean uniform ready to work
  • Complete daily prep list
  • Clean food preparation areas, cooking surfaces and utensils
  • Cook batches of food such as chicken, fish and meat which are prepared to order or kept refrigerated until sold
  • Maintain sanitation, health and safety standards in the work area
  • Create sauces and stocks
  • Operate large-volume cooking equipment such as grills, deep fryers and griddles
  • Pre-cook items such as bacon in order to prepare for later use
  • Read food order slips or receive verbal instructions as to food required: prepare and cook food according to instructions
  • Verify that prepared foods meet quality and quantity requirements
  • Wash, cut and prepare foods designated for cooking
  • Clean, stock and restock workstations and reach-in
  • Decorate and garnish desserts with proper sauces and fruit
  • Prepare amenities such as fruit plates for Boxwood
  • Be knowledgeable of all stations in the restaurant
  • Be knowledgeable of plate presentations and preparations of all menu items
  • Communicate with all line cooks daily for proper pars and production requirements in specific work stations
  • Maintain the buffet in the restaurant and any action stations that are required by business demands
  • Maintain and rotate all food items to ensure food quality; date and label all food items and actively practice FIFO (First-In-First-Out)
  • Strive to minimize waste and breakage
